Digging in to the Word

For the past two years I've completed year long devotions. The last one I did didn't really go into the depth that I longed for. This year I started a 'read through the Bible' in a year plan. I'm only 10 days in and I'm loving it. It's amazing how you can read a passage you've read before, but suddenly it comes to life for you. Maybe my heart is more open than it has been in the past when I've tried. I'm learning and discovering things I probably should've known, but didn't. Better late than never, huh? :-)
As of right now, the plan has me reading Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs, and Matthew. Suprisingly, Genesis is the one I'm getting the most out of. So amazing to see the parallels between then and now. One of the verses I found the most interesting was in Genesis 6:3:Then the Lord said,"My spirit will not put up with humans for such a long time, for they are only mortal flesh. In the future, their normal lifespan will be no more than 120 years. Not sure why I thought that was so interesting, but it ALMOST prompted me to search to see if anyone had lived past then. However I realized the Word is truth, so there isn't anyone that's lived past 120 years. Mind boggling...even more mind boggling to think of living hundreds of years like they did way back then. :-)
My friends and I are also starting a study within our little group called Bad Girls of the Bible and What We Can Learn From Them. I'm excited to learn more and to grow with my friends.
I'm so blessed to have friends who hunger and thirst after God. I honestly can't imagine my life without a single one of them. These are my study buddies! :-)
